If you're new to Lindy Hop, welcome! Lindy hop is a fun, friendly, rhythmic social dance. At the Philly Lindy Hop classes, we specialize in getting first-timers started, and training you up until you're a solid intermediate.
The best way to start is to take a Novice Series. That's four one-hour lessons over the course of four weeks. After 8-10 hours of novice-level classes, you're ready for Beginner 1A and 1B.
The first week every month is free, so you can come out and see if you like it, then sign up only if you want to!
Next Novice Series:
The Green Light (home) Studio
3713 Lancaster, 8:10-9:10pm, starts August 4th.

Class Descriptions:
Novice - Novice classes are for anyone with 0-10 hours of lindy hop lessons. So whether you're walking in off the street, or continuing to perfect the basics, this is the level for you! We'll cover the fundamentals of leading following, plus the moves you need to know to get started.
Beginner IA and IB - IA and IB are to take you from a novice to a true beginner dancer. The two series will cover different material, and you may take either one first. Please note that you must take both IA and IB before you may move up to level II classes.
Special Topic: Charleston!- Dan and Kerry will cover 4 weeks of charleston moves, including partnered and solo moves, to cement what you've learned at Hot Mess, and get you ready for Falty Philly Invasion!
Special Topic: Swingout BootCamp- After at least one round of level 1, you are eligible to take Swingout BootCamp. This 4-week intensive will focus on pure lindy hop technique, using the move we all love so much- the swingout. This is a class for lindy hoppers of many skill levels to hone their skills and eliminate those nasty habits that creep up. Expect drills, reps, details, and lots of feedback!
Beginner II - After you have taken both IA and IB, you can move up to level II whenever you're ready. We'll start to explore some of the improvisational aspects of lindy hop, and just what makes this dance rock so very hard.
Beginner III - After you've taken level II at least once, level III is the place to go, with styling, rhythm, and fancy moves- plus, of course, continuing to polish the technique that'll make you oh-so-fun to dance with!
Beginner III in April will be focusing on shapes and styling in your lindy hop, building on rhythmic fundamentals to create your own lindy voice.
Private Lessons
Privates are the best way to get direct feedback on your dancing. In a private lesson, you can come prepared with questions or challenges, or you can hand yourself over to your instructor, carte blanche, to fix whatever is going on in your dancing. Either way, you'll get to work on material that relates directly to your dancing!
